KANADA GEWINNT SEINEN 28. WM-Titel

Dank den drei Toren im Schlussdrittel durch Samuel Blais (45.) , Tyler Toffoli (52.) und Scott Laughton (EN) besiegten die Kanadier Deutschland mit 5:2.

Beide Teams traten in der gleichen Aufstellung wie am Vortag an. Deutschland begann mit dem Selbstvertrauen des Siegs gegen die USA. Die Kanadier kamen erst nach vier Minuten zum ersten Abschluss durch Laughton. In der achten Minute bediente Seider John Peterka der Montembeault mit einem präzisen Schuss um 0:1 bezwang. Die Kanadier nahmen die Coach's Challenge aber der Treffer wurde bestätigt. Die Unterzahl überstanden die Kanadier problemlos. In der elften Minute kamen die Kanadier eher zufällig zum Ausgleich, ein Befreiungsschlag landete auf dem Stock von Krebs dieser bediente mit einem Querpass Samuel Blais der zum 1:1 ausglich.

Auch im Mitteldrittel führten die Deutschen die feinere Klinge. Bei einer Überzahl hatten Tuomie und Tiffels Backhand zwei ausgezeichnete Möglichkeiten. Nach Chancen für Peterka und Blais kurz nacheinander spielte Kastner die Scheibe tief und Daniel Fischbuch reagierte am schnellsten und traf zum 1:2. Dann kassierte Szuber eine Strafe und nach Chancen für Carcone und Weegar, lenkte Lawson Crouse einen Pass von Krebs zum 2:2 ab.

Nach fünf Minuten im Schlussdrittel führte ein Fehlpass von Szuber in der eigenen Zone zu einem Turnover, Glass schoss Backhand und Samuel Blais verwertete den Rebound zur erstmaligen Führung der Ahornblätter. 24 Sekunden später traf Routinier Lucic nur den Pfosten. In der 52. Minute leisteten sich die Deutschen einen Fehlpass in der Offensiv-Zone, Kanada kam zu einem drei gegen eins Konter, Tyler Toffoli erwischte Niederberger zwischen den Schonern zum 4:2. Als es die Deutschen ohne Torhüter versuchte, machte Scott Laughton ins leere Tor den Deckel drauf.

Mit den Kanadiern gewann heute Abend nicht unbedingt die bessere sondern die abgeklärtere Mannschaft. Die Deutschen haben ein hervorragendes Turnier gespielt, leider führten zwei Fehler im Schlussdrittel zu den zwei entscheidenden Gegentoren. Aber die Mannschaft von Harold Kreis kann sich über die zweite WM-Medaille nach 70 Jahren mehr als nur freuen.
