Titelverteidiger Kanada startet mit einem souveränen Sieg gegen Deutschland

Die Kanadier liessen den Deutschen keine Chance und gewannen verdient mit 3:5

Im Abendspiel traf Titelverteidiger Kanada auf Deutschland. Die Kanadier traten mit einer Routinierten Mannschaft ohne grosse Stars an.

Im Team von Deutschland standen mit Goalie Philipp Grubauer, Verteidiger Moritz Seider und Stürmer Tim Stützle ebenfalls drei Spieler aus der NHL.


Die Kanadier waren Spielbestimmend, doch es brauchte schon einen unnötigen Puckverlust in der eigenen Zone der Deutschen damit die Kanadier in Führung gngen konnten, Anderson bediente Cole Sillinger der mit einem präzisen Schuss zum 0:1 traf. Anderson versuchte es wenig später aus der Drehung Grubauer aufmerksam. Der zweite Treffer fiel nach einer schönen Einzelleistung von Pierre-Luc Dubois der Grubauer nach 18 Minuten auf der Stockhandseite zum 2:0 bezwang.

Im Mitteldrittel hatten die Deutschen die ersten Möglichkeiten durch Schmolz und Seider, doch es brauchte einen Fehler von Goalie Thompson der in der 38. Minuten einen nicht besonders scharfen Schuss von Seider abprallen lies damit die Deutschen zum Anschlusstreffer kamen Marc Michaelis bedankte sich mit dem 1:2. Nach Spielmitte bremsten zwei Strafen nacheinander den Elan der Deutschen, eine Einladung für die Kanadier. Pierre-Luc Dubois brauchte 32 Sekunden um auf 1:3 zu erhöhen, er und Roy kamen im Slot zum Abschluss und die zweite nützte Kent Johnson nach 34 Minuten zum 1:4 aus. Jetzt schalteten und walteten die Kanadier nach belieben und Noah Gregor bedankte sich für den Freiraum mit dem 1:5 in der 38. Minute.

Anfangs des Schlussdrittels kamen die Deutsche zu einer doppelten Überzahl, Matthias Plachta verkürzte mit seinem Direktschuss auf 2:5. Nach 51 Minuten eine weitere doppelte Überzahl für die Deutschen, Moritz Seider traf mit einem präzisen Handgelenkschuss zum 3:5. Bei fünf gegen fünf waren die Kanadier klar besser, die letzten zwei Tore waren nur noch Resultatkosmetik.
